Getting started
How does bandcamped work?
Paste any Bandcamp track or album URL. bandcamped finds every person who bought or supported that release and shows them ranked by how much their collection overlaps with yours. The more items you both own, the higher they appear. Click any collector to browse their full collection and discover releases you've never heard.
Do I need a Bandcamp account to use bandcamped?
No account needed to start. Paste any Bandcamp release link and you'll immediately see the full list of supporters. To unlock taste matching — seeing which collectors share your taste — you just need to enter your Bandcamp collection URL in the matching panel on the release page. No sign-up required for that either.
Is bandcamped free?
Yes, completely free. Paste any release and start digging immediately. Creating an account (optional) lets you build a personal taste map, save releases to your crate, and access your search history.
How it works
What is taste overlap and how is it calculated?
Taste overlap is the number of releases you and a given collector both own on Bandcamp. If you own 200 items and a supporter owns 300, and 45 of those releases are the same, their overlap score is 45. The grid sorts from highest overlap down, so the collectors most likely to lead you to music you'll love appear first. It's based entirely on real purchases — not genre tags, not algorithms.
How is this different from Bandcamp's own recommendations?
Bandcamp's recommendation engine works from genre tags and editorial picks. bandcamped works from actual buying behaviour. When a real person spent their money on the same records as you, that's a much stronger signal than a genre match. You're not getting algorithmic suggestions — you're getting the crates of real collectors who demonstrably share your taste.
What is a Taste Map?
A Taste Map is a personalised pre-computed overlap analysis across your entire Bandcamp collection. bandcamped analyses the supporters of every release you own, finds who else collects those releases, and pre-scores them all against your collection. Once built, future release analyses return instant results without needing to fetch anything from Bandcamp. You can build your Taste Map from the Settings page.

How do genre chips work on the release page?
The genre chips below the release header come from two sources. The first row shows the pasted release's own Bandcamp tags. The second row — 'In matched collections' — shows genres aggregated from every matched item across every matched collector. Click any tag to instantly re-rank all collectors by how many items of that genre they own, surfacing the deepest specialists in that sound.
What is the crate?
The crate is a personal save list. While browsing any collector's collection, hit the heart icon on any release to save it. Your crate sits in the top-right corner on every page so you can always see what you've set aside. Crate items link directly to Bandcamp so you can buy or listen whenever you're ready.
Collectors & data
Why do some collector cards show 0 matches or no collection?
Bandcamp allows collectors to set their profiles to private. Private profiles show up in the supporter count on release pages but their collections are inaccessible. A card showing 0 items or a lock icon means the collector exists but keeps their purchases private — this is normal and not a bug.
What genres and music does bandcamped work for?
Any genre available on Bandcamp. In practice it's most powerful for underground, independent, and electronic music — the communities where collectors buy deep and often. The more niche the release you paste, the more meaningful the overlaps tend to be, because you're finding people who genuinely sought out that music rather than stumbling across it on a playlist.
Does bandcamped store my collection data?
Yes — and this is intentional. Every collection bandcamped fetches from Bandcamp is stored permanently in our database. This means the more people use bandcamped, the faster it gets for everyone. If a collector's collection is already cached, their results are instant instead of requiring a live Bandcamp fetch. Your own collection is only stored if you choose to link it.
Chrome extension
What is the Chrome extension?
The bandcamped Chrome extension adds a 'Dig' button directly on every Bandcamp page — release pages, collection grids, the player bar. One click opens bandcamped with that release pre-loaded so you never have to leave Bandcamp to start digging. It reads nothing except the current page URL and sends no data anywhere.
